hello there~

we've got a new cast of creatures named Skullmates. not much is known about them yet. to you, that is. this teaser was made for Motionographer's F5 conference in NYC this past April. it's aggressively fast, produced pro-bono, and meant to leave you uncomfortably weirded out. the teaser features Wurma, Vudu and Dublo, who are all based off of a human skull base. expect to see Skullmates popping up in other mediums in the pretty near future.

MOTIONOGRAPHER F5, NYC

January 21,2009 17:29:19

Nanospore will be featured in the MOTIONOGRAPHER F5 design conference / April 16th and 17th in New York City.

From f5fest.com:

In that spirit, we created the F5 RE:PLAY film festival. We invited some of our favorite studios and independent directors to create short films ranging in length from 15 seconds to 2 minutes on the topics of rejuvenation, regrowth, rebirth and/or revival. There’s no real brief; we just want people to express themselves and stretch their wings a bit.

The films will be shown on the main stage at F5 between speakers, on plasmas around the F5 event space, on Motionographer (after the event) and on the F5 website.

The RE:PLAY lineup is as follows:

  • Blacklist (Nanospore, Pistachios and Holbrooks)

  • Buck

  • Click 3X

  • Cody Cobb

  • Crush

  • Digital Kitchen

  • Imaginary Forces

  • Luis Torres/La Flama

  • Matt Lambert/1st Ave Machine

  • Not To Scale/Ubik

  • Ryan Rothermel/Sean Pecknold

  • Saiman Chow

  • Sehsucht

  • Shilo

  • Superfad

Royal Elastics + Nanospore = FRESHTECH

September 15,2008 13:32:25

http://nanospore.org/ns04/blogimages/blogbreak04.jpg

alas! we've completed our :30 animated spot for Royal Elastic's newest seasonal campaign, FRESHTECH. the shoe featured here is the Knight, as they've got the whole middle age theme on the shoe names going on.

FRESHTECH is the New Bermuda Triangle Vortex. And NATURE and TECHNOLOGY are its missing travelers. It's shrouded in mystery, and one rarely knows what's going on. In those instances that you do, we give u a glimpse of the sexual [yes, it's somewhat sexual but sfw] synergy that happens within.

Sean Starkweather contributed to a portion of design and practically animated the entire thing on his own. check his site.

and we popped Nosaj Thing's sound design cherry. sounds sick. nosajthing.com

now, this mov is pretty highres cuz we like it that way. but if for some reason it just won't load for you,

MUSIC IS A TIME MACHINE, Nanospore's Fuse Ident

June 26,2008 16:53:24

hi all, we just press released our Fuse TV's idents, which got featured on Motionographer, Top Spot feature on Boards and a feature on Stash's Feed as well. and, although the original music track  we intended to use was Kanye's Classic, featuring Rakim, Nas and KRS-One [there was a slew of licensing issues that prevented it], he still managed to blog about it last month - Kanye's Blog.

we were fine with all that though, when Rahzel jumped on board to make the current beatboxed track from scratch. you'll notice the bpm's to Classic and our "Back in the Day" track are identical. btw, Rahzel doesn't talk like a walking vocoder on conference calls. what a disappointment.

boards magazine cover

August 01,2007 15:48:21

Our idea was loosely based upon the film genre of Machinima that is featured in this issue of Boards. We wanted to instill in it a light-hearted, yet acid-tripping DIY spirit of art-making, whether it's film or print.

META7 by Paul Hwang / Nike Asia Pacific

October 31,2006 06:00:31

 Oct 31 - Nov 5, 2006

Debuting in Tokyo Designers Week, Tokyo, Japan

To celebrate the release of the new Nike Free Trainer 7.0, Nike invited Nanospore creator Paul Hwang to apply his touch. The commissioned film is part of Nike Asia Pacific's Premium Performance campaign, very much in the same vein as the Nike Art of Speed and Adicolor films.

Personifying the key facets of the Nike Free Trainer 7.0 [free sole, lateral stability, and foot strengthening] are three mild-mannered characters who transform into super powerful beings. Paul's animated short film, print campaign, and 3D sculpts submerge them in the urban playground of a Taiwanese city pulling influences from Sistine Chapel paintings and Chinese Tapestries. More information to come.

FeelGood Project, Session 3, Taipei

August 26,2006 14:06:28

we participated and were present at feelgood project, session 3, in taipei.  we whipped up a quickie animation and also created a feelgood 'twist' illustration. all proceeds went to orbis taiwan to eliminate avoidable blindness in developing countries. this, all thanks to our buddy rae at just another reason.

Coke Grip and Coke Voyage

May 04,2006 16:03:46

we directed two coke spots for web and mobile content. these were meant to promote the new coke 'grip' bottle. what a friendly octopus, if we might say so ourselves~
