we've got a new cast of creatures named Skullmates. not much is known about them yet. to you, that is. this teaser was made for Motionographer's F5 conference in NYC this past April. it's aggressively fast, produced pro-bono, and meant to leave you uncomfortably weirded out. the teaser features Wurma, Vudu and Dublo, who are all based off of a human skull base. expect to see Skullmates popping up in other mediums in the pretty near future.
Royal's International Website, ROYAL ELASTICS DOT TV, is up! You'll notice some similar elements throughout the Freshtech Knight animated spot, this new website, and the print campaign, as we were trying to build a fairly cohesive brand for them this year. Below are some images from the landing page intro [much more neat animations on the actual site]:
and the massive looping scroller [ scroll your browser upward for the correct effect :b ]:
"A hot official copy of Windows 7 RC1 is on our desktop and we're poking around. But here are the three best new new things in Windows 7 Build 7100. This crazy background? Baked in."
so we got the OK to PR these print ads we did for Royal's next ad campaign, featuring many of the shoes for this year's new releases. we are talking about first and third quarter releases so don't get too excited - some of these styles and colourways may not drop for a good few months. photography - Zen Sekizawa
alas! we've completed our :30 animated spot for Royal Elastic's newest seasonal campaign, FRESHTECH. the shoe featured here is the Knight, as they've got the whole middle age theme on the shoe names going on.
FRESHTECH is the New Bermuda Triangle Vortex. And NATURE and TECHNOLOGY are its missing travelers. It's shrouded in mystery, and one rarely knows what's going on. In those instances that you do, we give u a glimpse of the sexual [yes, it's somewhat sexual but sfw] synergy that happens within.
Sean Starkweather contributed to a portion of design and practically animated the entire thing on his own. check his site.
and we popped Nosaj Thing's sound design cherry. sounds sick. nosajthing.com
now, this mov is pretty highres cuz we like it that way. but if for some reason it just won't load for you,
HOMOGENY is collaboration between Nanospore and Royal Elastics - set for a Fall '08 release. it features our little nameless friend, which serves as a symbol of the similarity in structure between organs or parts, possibly of dissimilarfunction, that are related by commondescent. Light and dark. Color and monochrome. Land and sea. Love and hatred. Joy and pain.
it is also a hidden metephor for the unusual harmony between Royal Elastics and Nanospore.
one of the 2 designs will come randomly in a custom Royal Elastics blisterpack that will additionally include a pair of the Nanpospore Sosei shoes, t-shirt, extra large handkerchief, stickers and god knows what else.
we'll also have a few of the toys available [minus the blisterpack] on the webstore. they'll be sold as a pair, because the fun factor about these is that u get to jigsaw them together with a loving embrace and create a completely new silhouette.

hi all, we just press released our Fuse TV's idents, which got featured on Motionographer, Top Spot feature on Boards and a feature on Stash's Feed as well. and, although the original music track we intended to use was Kanye's Classic, featuring Rakim, Nas and KRS-One [there was a slew of licensing issues that prevented it], he still managed to blog about it last month - Kanye's Blog.
we were fine with all that though, when Rahzel jumped on board to make the current beatboxed track from scratch. you'll notice the bpm's to Classic and our "Back in the Day" track are identical. btw, Rahzel doesn't talk like a walking vocoder on conference calls. what a disappointment.
We were commissioned by Chris Curry of the New Yorker Mag to do an accompanying illo for an article about the losing war against spam mail. Check out the process:

our initial 'final':
the red was too offensive:
which eventually turned into a corporate blue [too bad..the purple comp was a favorite of ours]:

To celebrate the release of the new Nike Free Trainer 7.0, Nike invited Nanospore creator Paul Hwang to apply his touch. The commissioned film is part of Nike Asia Pacific's Premium Performance campaign, very much in the same vein as the Nike Art of Speed and Adicolor films.
Personifying the key facets of the Nike Free Trainer 7.0 [free sole, lateral stability, and foot strengthening] are three mild-mannered characters who transform into super powerful beings. Paul's animated short film, print campaign, and 3D sculpts submerge them in the urban playground of a Taiwanese city pulling influences from Sistine Chapel paintings and Chinese Tapestries. More information to come.
